CCM JUNIOR ACADEMY
15 SESSION WINTER 2009/10 WINTER PROGRAM

Alan Wells (Sussex & England) coaching the Junior Academy

Because of the huge success of the CCM Senior Academy we have decided to set up a Junior Academy.

  • In 2008 15 boys graduated into first class county age group teams and academies.
  • Since we set up five years ago two of our players have become professional cricketers.
  • The CCM Academy program will give talented young players the chance to fulfil their potential with the long term of becoming a professional cricketer.
  • We can offer a world class training program for both Junior Senior Academy players. The Ultimate would be to take a boy on at 10 years old and put him through junior and eventually senior program after which he will be the finished article. At this point we will present that player to a number of First Class County set ups with the view of getting them a professional contract.

Director of Coaching and lead coach – Gary Palmer:

  • Somerset All-rounder
  • Head Coach of Easter Province Academy in South Africa (Prince and Boucher)
  • Specialist Technical batting coach to Gloucester (Consultancy Basis)
  • Worked with England Youth Squads
  • Worked as Tutor coach on the E.C.B Levels 3 and 4
  • Worked with Australia on a number of occasions
  • Worked with numerous First Class county sides

All support coaches will have either E.C.B Qualifications or have played County or International cricket.
We also use current first class county first and second team coaches, this give the players good exposure which can lead to counties signing them up.
